Scope and purposes

This notice applies to personal data handled by GLOTRADE PTE. LTD. (UEN 202309380M) in connection with our website and business enquiries. Read it together with our privacy policy, which explains the information involved, purposes, potential recipients and retention criteria.

The PDPA’s data protection provisions generally do not apply to business contact information, such as a work name, title and business contact details, when provided for business purposes. Other information in the same correspondence may still be personal data protected by the PDPA.

Consent and withdrawal

We must notify you of the purposes for collecting, using or disclosing personal data and obtain consent where required. Deemed consent and exceptions apply only where the conditions in the PDPA or other applicable law are met.

You can withdraw consent at any time by writing to the contact below and giving reasonable notice. Identify the relevant data and purpose. We will explain the likely consequences and the time reasonably needed to give effect to your request. For example, withdrawal may mean we can no longer respond to an enquiry that requires those details.

Once withdrawal takes effect, we will stop the collection, use or disclosure covered by it and require our data intermediaries and agents to do the same, unless continued handling is required or authorised by law. Withdrawal does not itself require the deletion of records still needed for a lawful purpose.

Access and correction

Subject to applicable exceptions, you may request:

  • Access to personal data about you in our possession or under our control.
  • Information about how that data was used or disclosed during the year before your request.
  • Correction of an error or omission in your personal data.

Write to us with enough detail to locate the relevant records and a way to reply. We may need reasonable information to verify your identity or a representative’s authority. Please do not send a copy of your NRIC or passport unless specifically requested and justified.

We will provide access as soon as reasonably possible and make corrections as soon as practicable. If we cannot complete the request within 30 days of receiving it, we will tell you in writing within those 30 days when to expect our response.

A reasonable fee may apply to an access request; we will give you a written estimate beforehand. We do not charge for a correction request. Where required, corrected data will also be sent to organisations to which it was disclosed during the year before the correction.

Exceptions may restrict access or correction, including where another person’s data or protected information would be disclosed. If we cannot fulfil a request, we will explain the outcome to the extent permitted by law.

Care of personal data

Our obligations include reasonable arrangements to protect personal data and reasonable efforts to keep it accurate and complete where it is likely to affect a decision about you or be disclosed to another organisation.

Data must not be retained after its legal and business purposes end. Transfers outside Singapore must satisfy the PDPA’s requirements for comparable protection or another permitted basis. The privacy policy explains how these principles relate to website visits and enquiries.

Data breaches

Where there are grounds to believe a personal data breach has occurred, the PDPA requires a reasonable and expeditious assessment of whether it is notifiable. A breach that meets the significant harm or significant scale criteria must be reported to the Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC) as soon as practicable, no later than three calendar days after determining that it is notifiable. Affected individuals must also be notified as soon as practicable where the significant harm criteria apply, subject to statutory exceptions and directions.
